Fresh Green Asparagus

Asparagus are young and tender stalks of a herbaceous plant that reaches up to five feet tall. They are rich in essential oils wich are beneficial to health.

The green asparagus, also called black asparagus, bitter or wheat, grows in contact with sunlight. Therefore, chlorophyll develops and brings to this variety the green color. This kind of asparagus is especially appreciated for its taste.

Fresh asparagus are constituted mainly by water. Its content of sugars and fats is very low, whereas they are one of the richest vegetable with proteins. They also contain a high fiber content. About its vitamin content, is very important the presence of folate, provitamin A and vitamins C and E. Also contains other B vitamins such B1, B2, B3 and B6.
